Indeed, it can be done.
Far too many don't want to do so though in case they "miss something".
You only need glance through the transfer thread to see how many people feel deprived of their fix and moan like fuck about it.
Scale that up to full-on Social Media use and people do waste a lot of time on things that could easily be put off until later with no damage done.

I know I spend exactly 0 secs a day on Twitter on my phone. Same with Facebook. I don't have the apps. I can access them through a browser, on my computer.
Again, you see a news story there first and go from there. 5 minutes on Twitter, maybe. I can't respond and don't care about responses.
A deep dive of about half hour once or twice week - not when I want to work - to look at family and old friends on Facebook. More if you count using it as a family to message or video chat. Never go there for news And have posted about 5 pieces of big news this year.
It can be done.

You may well need to do an honest assessment of how much time you spent on your phone navigating to and accessing these sites.
People are often genuinely surprised at the time involved over an 8 or 10 hour day - and, naturally, refuse to believe what they see.

You can look there for news or updates without having an account.
That is what I do, as things are unfortunately appearing there first now. However if it is anything more controversial that a starting XI for the game, probably wait for more sources.
Even the best and brightest have tweeted rubbish and worse.
